Department of Airports Receives Award

Department of Airports Receives Award

The Department of Airports is pleased to have been awarded Transportation Project of the Year for the Oxnard Airport Runway 7-25 Reconstruction.

The award, given by the Ventura County Chapter of the American Public Works Association (APWA), spotlights the teamwork among the Department, Mead & Hunt who provided the design, Jviation who provided construction administration, and Sully-Miller who was the prime contractor.

The $14 million project, funded 100% by FAA through the Airport Improvement Program, required the total closure of the sole runway for 91 calendar days, which caused significant disruption for the businesses and tenants at Oxnard Airport. Through strong collaboration, the project was completed in the specified time without any budget overruns.
